I like this guys a lot. Really wacky and cartoony while still being very undead and creepy. I think you should design and model maybe a skinny counterpart, or an average build zombie. This way, when they clump together, they'll look like a mixed up group of soldiers.

okay here's my fat redcoat drawing. Jason Nguyen will be doing the tall and skinny versions of both redcoats and union soldiers.

those are pretty great. I might swap out the glowing eyes for actual eyes, but they work.

orthos?

going to try to get orthos in by tomorrow.

Daniel, should I post these concepts in the class forums, or should I just post in here?

both, if you could.

Also, correct me if I'm mistaken, but looks like you have 2 sides of different wars going on.

union soldiers were civil war, red coats were american revolution.

I think it would be stronger set if they came from the same war...

Oh crap, you are right. I guess for some reason I thought we were supposed to do red coats.. Shall I replace them with Confederates then?

sure, doing the foot soldiers for confederates works. I also have a pretty good base mesh for cavalry, if you would rather just do that to do some union cavalry as well...

Nice work here. I especially like the guy with the bottom half of his face missing and doing "jazz hands" - silly and creepy at the same time, perfect! These are all four solid concepts - it doesn't bother me too much that they're from different wars since at the end of the day we're going to mix and match anyway, but as far as getting a set going Dabu does have a point - it's important to make sure that you research time period and setting when you're concepting something. In this case it's not a show stopper but usually you would get nailed on that.

As far as getting these guys in the same period, are there some simple changes you can make to a couple of these guys to give you some southern soldiers? Then you'd have a couple from the north and a couple from the south.

I do like those redcoats as well - great concept work with these guys.

Union UVs... i'll wait for a good to go, and i'll model the Confeddies and a variation of each one.

you could straighten some of those, like the belt, but should work fine....

easier to tell if you post with checkerboard, but I trust you.

colored ao, and rock texture...

i don't think the bandages are reading that well. seems too mummy-esque than gauss, maybe try something else, even bare skin or some transition from skin to bone

Hmm, i will rework them.. you're right about the mummy thing though.
