Heh heh, great concept. Love the key in the head.

This is a great concept that is a little off-scope for what we were originally looking for with this contest, but I'd like to see this one play out. I'm thinking that Ben Franklin would make a hilarious boss, with the kite and key giving him an electricity attack. This is not something that we were originally thinking of for the game, so there will have to be a little re-tooling on our end for this, or it might be something that appears in the sequel that we have planned.

We came here looking for zombie horde characters, and my first reaction to this was "awesome concept - too bad we can't use it because it's more of a one-off", but I'd like to encourage you to finish this one out. I'd like to see this guy become a boss.

To that end, I'd like to see you take this guy to the next level. I'll up your tri count to 1400 - use them wisely, and if you don't need them, you don't have to use them (less tris = better for us).

Keep in mind that we may not be able to use this guy in our February release, since he's off-scope for the project that we came here for. However, I would like to use him in the sequel game, so if that is cool with you then by all means please take this concept on to model.

If you would rather submit something for the February game that's cool too, but it will have to be a zombie that can be seen on screen as part of a horde, so not modeled after specific figures.

thanks you like it, and sorry for respond so late

i'll try with the 1400 limit and see what come out

here is the other idea, and i hope it's more likely for what you're looking for

I like that a lot. Really stylized without going totally unique and eyesore inducing. I'd say that's your prime candidate for a model so far.

Hi Vic,

This looks great! Fast work, too - very nice. There's really just a couple of things that I'd like to mention as you go for the final pass on this.

1. Go ahead and leave it at 512x512 - it looks like we're going to be using 512 maps for all of these zombies for the game.

2. The other thing is, we'd like to darken some of the outlines on the model as well, to give it more of a hand-drawn, cartoony quality. Take a look at the cowboy example in the art style thread - notice the thick black outlines like he was inked and then colored in.

This is a great model Vic, very minor texture changes as far as notes - good job!

and, its good to try to get variants, but it didn't seem to work too well for the ones you came up with. Ill go over these with you in class on wednesday...

That's looking spot on, man. Great translation of your original concept, and of the style guide. Looks great, and nicely readable.

Good work here - the outlines that you added did the trick!

and here comes the 100 dollar bill
Benjamin-Franklin!

if the kite version won't fit in the game, maybe the AXE version?

kite Ver. 1000 TRIS
AXE Ver. 998 TRIS
both with 512*512 map

and the last 1 was the compare LESS BLOOD version

dabu

these are solid, well done sir. I think you could find a balance between full blood and none, like have some staining around the shoulder where the bone sticks out from.

great work!

and the Mountain man tryout
personally...i like the one with bear (yes, that is a bear on his back)
but i really don't think i can fit that in 1000 TRIS

These are great concepts!

The one with the bear on his back will be a challenge - but remember you don't need to have any poly on the trappers' back so you should be able to do it in 1000 tris.
