I thought I'd toss this one in, a zombie redcoat drummer. It's my first time trying to do concept art...
dude leif thats totally sweet. try cleaning up the line quality a bit and make him more cartoony, just a bit though.
I could see an entire set of drummers / flute players...

This is a great idea.
I'd like to see his "humor" factor cranked up a little more. Try playing with his proportions to make him a little more ridiculous - going with an oversized head usually helps, and giving him larger-than normal hands and feet are good first steps towards getting a character to look more cartoonish.
Don't worry too much at first about getting a nice final drawing out - try a few rough sketches where you explore different ideas about the character - play around with proportions, poses, and gesture (this can be done even with stick figures) - then when you get the character composed how you want it, you can flesh it out more and move towards the final art style. This way, you can shoot through a lot of ideas very quickly before spending a whole night rendering out a beautiful drawing, and when you do decide to take it to the next level you'll that much happier with the result.
Love the idea of the musicians!
did some sketches for proportions along with a few more basic ideas nothing... complicated... the wacom tablet was kinda funky... really funky...
