So uh...

I decided to go in kind of different direction. I always liked Mega Man and sort of found a parallel in the design of their characters to Doctor Robotniks baddies. I liked the gag of the giant enraged robot monster that looked nearly impossible to defeat until all of its glaring weaknesses started flashing red. So I think I'm going to sort of run with that, and have fire man be this incredibly large and bad ass flamethrower robot with incredibly stupid weaknesses.

Heres some quick sketching. I'm new to this whole silhouette thing, but I found one I liked and refined it for about 5-10 minutes and I like what I got. I'll work on it some more later in the week I suppose.

In the drawing you can see a fuel tank located on his back, these stick out to the side and have large flashing red bars to warn people to NOT shoot at them. He has low hanging fuel lines to get tripped up on once they are shot loose (disabling the cannon) and of course a giant ventilation shaft/jet pack that can easily be shot at/into.

I like the idea of exaggerating the comical "death star vent." and by that i mean the silly weakness like you mention. definitely digging him tripping on his own wires, if you get that rigged and animated (even if someone else does it) it would be a funny portfolio piece as well

i don't understand what's going on in the back so definitely keep working with that. maybe to extend the idea of a silly weakness, you should put guard plating around the tank, and then (like in most silly weakness games) the guard opens for X time, say to let built up heat escape. and then he's just overly prone to attack for a short period of time

yeah, good start, but I agree with Sagar, whats up with the stuff on the back?

Can you do a partial angle silhouette?

no 3/4 because I uh.. am not good at drawing in perspective.

I do however have this.

Fireman Turn-around (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v622/PICTURESWEEE/?action=view&current=fireman_s.flv)

Photobucket does this thing with videos where it literally skips the first 1-2 seconds of a movie you upload whiles its "buffering" Don't know why...

edit: Photobucket is such a turd.

Maybe this will help if the movie doesn't work.

reminds me of the ARM artillery bot from Total Annihilation. i think you're pretty set on your concept, just push the exaggeration with what you were talking about before, so it can read as a satire
