looks pretty cool, I like the gear lever and stuff on the pack.
I'm just wondering how the the steam powers the butcher knife, or is the knife made of steam?

the butcher knife is made of steam kinda like a lights saber but its high density steam.

leather backing done onto uving
hold off on uving til you get some more feedback on design.
those backpack straps make NO SENSE attaching in the middle like that.
look at your backpack, you'll see what I mean

I see what he was going for by attaching it to the middle but Dabu is right, it doesnt make sense. I mean if I wore that thing, I'm pretty sure I wouldnt be able to make babies afterwards... guess that makes it pretty impractical actually xD.
If you want to attach it under the legs like that, it will have to be a seperate pair of straps. Just make those ones like backpack straps and an extra set for under the legs. Look up climbing harnesses for reference.

its like a racing seat belt the straps go around your waist not under your legs. i guess i should have explained that. i guess ill change the top straps to go toward the bottom side and not meet in the middle like the belt strap does. here an example

here some orthos with changes to belt design. i started uving poop
optimize those handles. Also, I don't really get how this thing actually cuts with steam. Can you explain it a bit more, or alter the design to look more explicit?

if you want instead of it being steam i could just say its a consintrated stream of water that makes up the blade if that helps. since that already exists as a cutting machine
Cool concept. I think you should exaggerate the size of the actual hand held parts to make them the focus... make em look more elaborate or larger or more heavy duty.

progress textures not done totally not done
Lookin cool - with normal maps and some dramatic lighting, this would look awesome. I like the fabric on the back section.

actually the leather is really the front its like a backing to make this whole thing more comfortably when you put it on
your texturing is improving, good to see. What is the material the handles are made out of?

yeah def not done lol, the texture for the leather backing and the straps looks good, the metals are sorta blah though, some back shots would be nice too lots of stuff back there. It looks alot like a hacksaw the knife part that is, so maybe give it a cool wooden handle or maybe a bicycle grip or something.

so the handles are like gold or brass and i starting making the alphas did some improvments to the metals. suggestions are needed thank you
Looks cool. I like the sort of clean/galvanized metal you have going on, makes it feel like someone took a lot of time making a homemade weapon look heavy duty.
You might want to intensify the AO, especially around the handles. Or, you could go in and do normal/spec and turn shadows on. With shadows and some warm/cool lights, this would look sick, especially if you give the gold a lot of brightness in the spec while making the metal look more dull. That way you'd get a stark difference in materials there.
You might also consider playing with more effects in the steam, maybe some kinda alpha steam sort of going out from the blade area, dissipating in to the air.
I think the a lot of this will shine when you light it and throw normal/spec on there.
the cutting edge would be blocked a bit by those triangular pieces, I would move them outside a bit.
you've got til tomorrow to finish this.

trying to figure out how to maybe pose this thing i even thought about using a blocked out figure to put this on.
damn dude. that thing is lookin sick.
Actually, sorry bout that, its due by Midnight tonight.
yeah, throw in a simple blocked out figure, and the texturing is really coming along.
the handles still look soft and undetailed to me, though.

so i was think these 2 or maybe just one of them poses then 2 more orthos of just the weapon yo
