My idea for the weapon is this little number. basic rundown of it has 2 tanks of water, 4-6 containers and an air compressor that work in tandem to make a shotgun spread effect out of 9 barrels. High-speed frozen flechette goodness.

Here's the model for the fist iteration 2400 tris. Im drawing up some alternate styles though, casue im not sure if this is gonna work out how i want. The idea of an icicle gun is pretty cool by itself but im getting too much of a "Realistic" feel for it. Im trying to gather some wacky ideas that could tweak it, if you have any ideas, throw em' this way.

got a few ideas scribbles down. im really starting to like the new ideas. Going for a "Fallout" home made /do-it yourself look. Feedback is appreciated
the silhouette of the top one is starting to work for me. I like the idea of "growing" an icicle in a clear chamber and then launching it with compressed air or something, with hoses that feed in water and dry ice, or some such, N2O

Ive been digging that one too. the idea of an automatic weapon is too complex/convenient. making it low tech will give it some more personality. Thanks.

Got the main gun body down, but for the details I'm a bit stumped. I have two main ideas to chase but I'm not sure what would be more awesome.
Idea 1: Going off my original idea of holster/satchel tank of liquid nitrogen. Along this idea I'm toying with an idea for a valve of sorts like the wrench above for an on off switch, or a bug sprayer idea that you would have to manually pump.
Idea 2: Make the gun more of a breech loading style like a old shotgun where you would add chucnks of dry ice into the water compressor.
I'm thinking that having a sack of dry ice would give it a more olde-school steam punk-y flintlock feel to it, but the LN^2 pump just makes it wackier, heavier, and more cumbersome to reload.
As always , insight is appreciated.
I like the concept of a clear chamber where you "grow" each icicle before it shoots it using compressed air...

I agree with Daniel. I'm really digging that design! a chamber where icicles rapidly grow and then are launched out....sweet...
I just wish I could enter, but my computer has failed me when I need it most.

Thanks, for the advice you two, and I got some ideas for the "loading" mechanism for the gun as well.. Shouldn't take too much To make that correction and add in an observation window.
Also, sorry to hear about your compy Mary, this thread needs moar dakka...

Oi! Finally got a design I liked.
-Decided to go with a break-breech loading design and do away with any pumps.
-Modified the pump form being a belt-spun design to a top mounted piston.
-To appease the Slap-Chop gods, I added a tiny port hole for all your icicle growing curiosity.
-I looked back and decided that it needed something to add to its silhouette, and so it has this old-timey, big-ass telescope for a rifle sight.
I'm at 2915 tris so far but I'm planning on adding a satchel bag filled with vials of LN^2 (ammo).
Feedback is appreciated. After this, I feel that I'm pretty much ready to start slapping some texture.
that is looking sick. Nice silhouette.
Once this is done, youve got to design the steampunk icicle beard guy that wields this in the frosty north wastelands...
