Hello.

Here is a project i been working on for my new company I just started at. Its zynga in san francisco. Been hired as a temp worker there for about 2 weeks so far. I can get permanent position later on if I do well and all. So Im looking forward to achieving that.

This is for a 3d flash racing game. Cool i never knew flash can do 3d. But anyways here is the model textured with no lights and all. Its a limited game engine in flash but ya about 580 tris for the car shell and another 600 for the 4 wheels. 1300 tris total.

Uses a 1024 map. Seems like flash can handle and compress large texture images well so far. Had to paint in reflection and lights onto this thing and use no lights. So this is why you all must do well with dabu's thunderbird excersize b/c someday you might have to work on something similar to this :)

comments and critques?

Awesome work! The reflections look amazing. Is there a maya trick to how u get that (like baking it in or what not), or was it just photoshop?

Congrats on work!!!

Thanks. Ya Im satisified with the highlights but I think it can be better with more cleaning and maybe some hotter spots so i'll mess around with it more.

But ya I did a combination of a few things. I did some specular bakes using the phone shader and also the antrisophic shader. Blended and mixed them together. But even that it still wasn't right. Still a bit fussy looked more like plastic so I had to go in there and start photoshoping away. I sharpended up all the highlights using the sharp edge brushes and started painting in reflection. Used like a 5 percent oppacity white brush. Then i started playing around with erasing those reflections out to create those sillouettes in the environments that you can see in the reflection. It was fun playin around with that.

A lot of the work is studying the references and painting while looking at reference. This is where your traditional art skill starts getting utilized. You can't always rely on bakes but they do provide a good starting point.
