I know this is a popular one, but I thought this would be a fun project to tackle so let me know how I'm doing so far...I still plan on doing a little more optimization. I'm currently at 739 tris, and 412 faces.
thanks for respecting the post size on these boards, I would actually post slightly higher res images so we can see more clearly.
Use your remaining 10 tris if you can, slightly round out the rear bumper or something.
I'd say you are ready to UV, nice job...

Hi Patrick,
Nice job on the car.
The car looks great as it is but if you do have time to optimize the mesh, I've doodled a little on the image you posted - pointing out edges I would consider looking at again.
I like your use of polys on the dents. I'll place a nice big rock ontop of the roof. :D
It may be a little hard, but you can get a rounder curve on the mudguard arch by taking polys from the wheel joint/servo since this part will most likely be submerged in the river.
kind regards,
Sam

Hey Sam, thanks for the tips, I've gone ahead and optimized the model further, let me know if there are other areas that i missed that can still be optimized. I'm currently at 747 tris, and i've rounded out the wheel wells. I've also deleted the backfaces to the wheel joints..which i hadn't done before. I'm going to start UVing now and get a base pass texture.

That was fast optimizing. The modelling part looks done to me. Happy Uv mapping.
Sam
watch your 5 sided face on the bottom, make us some tight UVs!

Not finished yet but im getting there, still working on the front and back end, have been concentrating more on the sides at this point...just wanted to post some screenies to get some feedback before the last day of class...
